Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6 & 7
I had to move home quickly to help my parents who were in the hospital, so I left my PO box key with a friend who agreed to check it for me while I was gone. As life happens, a year has passed since she was able to check the PO box.
Earlier this summer, my friend finally got a chance to check my PO box. In the box were several letters from a state tax board. The letters were claiming that I needed to pay several thousand dollars in taxes for a non-profit I lead. A non-profit doesn’t pay taxes. But, nevertheless, several letters over the last year had been sent, and none replied to. So, now, they were also claiming a large penalty for not responding to their requests.
Oh, no! What do I do now? I panicked a bit. Where do I start trying to figure this out? How do I get it resolved? What do I need to do? I had no clue where to start. I admit, my anxiety was very high.
Then I thought of another friend, who is an accountant in that state, and use to do my personal taxes. He is a good friend. He would know what to do. He would help. I resolved to call him on Monday, and the anxiety immediately lessened.
When I talked to my accountant friend on Monday, he agreed that it did appear that there was some confusion, and he committed to research it, and get back to me. I scanned all the many letters, and then some of the legal papers from the non-profit, and sent them off to his office.
The anxiety reduced even more.
I had now placed all of it in his capable hands, and was confident that he would take care of it. If there was anything that I needed to do, he would let me know. Until then, I did not need to do anything. I did not even need to think about it. I had given it to him to take care of, and now I would let him do his work and take care of it.
What a great example of how it should be when we turn our problems over to the Lord. We have a problem, we have no idea how to handle, and the Lord tells us to give it to him and trust that He will take care of it.
I trust my friend will take care of this problem, because he is an expert, and he is my friend.
Yet, often I don’t seem to have the same amount of trust in God! He is even MORE of an expert – in EVERYTHING. And He is not only my friend – He is my eternal husband and my Father God.
Give your problem to the expert of experts – GOD – Place all of it in His capable hands, and be confident that He will take care of it. If there is anything that you needed to do, He will let you know. Until then, you do not need to do anything. Do not even think about it. Give it to Him to take care of, and now let Him do His work and take care of it.
Give God your problem, then forget about it, and let Him handle it! Accept His peace, that transcends all understanding, and trust that He is taking care of the problem. He is solving it for you.
God can handle it!
